1. You’re always right, and you should get exactly what you want. Many people assume that a massage therapist is a professional and will say whatever they want. Massage therapy is no different. The old saying that the customer is always right applies to massage therapy. While it is important to work with a trusted expert, this does not mean you should be denied the opportunity to focus more on one area or adjust to pressure.

A trusted expert will listen to what you have to say and then apply the techniques to your situation. Although this is a common occurrence in the market, you won’t let someone sell you something you don’t want. This is also true for massage therapy. Your massage therapist should be able to listen to what you have to say and help you find the best solution.

If you feel that your massage therapist isn’t listening to you, you can end the session. It is unacceptable to waste your time on ineffective treatments.

2. Here are some things you can expect from your massage therapy treatment. Your desired outcome should be achieved by your massage therapy treatment. It is important to know that your massage therapist will listen to you and provide a massage that is both relaxing and enjoyable. You should feel comfortable calling to book your massage. It is a good idea to inquire about the credentials and experience of the massage therapist.

It is a good idea to talk to an existing client in order to make sure that they have had a positive experience with the practitioner. Ask to visit the place where you will receive your massage. Is it clean and relaxing? How does the facility’s energy feel? Is it in tune with your energy? Does it feel like a place you can trust? You should also ask to meet the therapist before you go to the massage. This will ensure that you feel comfortable with them.

After you’ve booked your massage and arrived for your massage, you’ll be asked to complete some paperwork. You should allow enough time for the paperwork to be completed so that it doesn’t interfere with your massage. Remember that a massage professional is likely to be very busy with other clients.

You should be welcomed at the establishment and given water. After filling out the paperwork, wait for your therapist to introduce themselves and then direct you to the massage room. Before proceeding, the therapist will ask about your goals and listen to what you have to say. The therapist should make you feel like they care about your goals and are interested in helping to achieve them. You should feel relaxed and comfortable in the treatment room. You can choose to be fully clothed by your massage therapist.

Note Some people may prefer to wear all their clothes. Clients who began with me completely clothed have gone on to work with me over time. As their comfort increased, they started to take off some of their clothes so that I could massage their skin. Massage therapy is more effective when applied directly to the skin. Another fact is that skilled massage therapists can still give great massages while you are dressed in your best clothes.

During a massage, you should cover your body with sheets or drape it with sheets. This is not only a legal requirement, but it is also for your comfort. You will cover the rest of your body with a sheet, and if you’re cold, a blanket.

Note that I have had massages in places that used very few towels to cover me naked. However, in one particular session (at a San Diego location), I felt very cold and the draft made it very uncomfortable. This particular place may not be a legitimate spa but is a front for prostitutes. This establishment is advertised as a day spa so you should be cautious about where you book your appointment. If I had followed these steps, I could guarantee that I would have discovered that the establishment was fraudulent and saved myself the unpleasant experience.

After demonstrating where to put your clothes, the practitioner will exit the room and tell you that they will return in a few minutes to begin your massage.

Note – We have a relaxation switch in our clinics. This allows clients to open the doors to those who are not comfortable under the sheets. To avoid uncomfortable racing-to-the-table situations, make sure the establishment has the relaxation switch.

After you have gotten to the table, the therapist should come to the room to begin the massage. How is the temperature in the room? How does the table feel like? How does the table feel with pillows and bolsters?

Before the therapist starts the massage, they should inform you that you can request more or less pressure at any point during the session. The massage therapist should not speak to you if you are receiving the massage for relaxation purposes. When I ask massage clients about their experiences, this is the number one complaint. I’ve heard from therapists who would tell clients about their personal problems, while they were “held hostage” by the client and are charging them a lot of money to counsel them on their personal issues.

The first step is to be clear: You are always right.

Note A massage to relieve pain or an injury will be performed by a professional. Your therapist may ask you to lie down on the table, to the side, and to the back.

Your therapists will thank you for your massage and talk with you about your muscular health. They will also discuss a plan to help you achieve your goals. You may only need to come in once a month for stress management, or you may need to be there twice a week for six weeks to address a particular issue.

No matter what your case may be, your therapist should help you create a plan to achieve your goals. Your therapist should refer you to the right therapy or group that can help you reach this goal.

3. What is a massage modality and why massage modalities have become passé? You will be astonished at the variety of massage options available. A massage modality refers to a technique that is specifically designed for a particular purpose. Many massage modalities are available, and it can be overwhelming for someone who has never had a massage. Therapists are often misinformed about the various massage modalities they offer. This is because of the third point that I mentioned in the possible problems massage clients can experience after receiving a massage.

Massage practitioners are the only ones who know how to perform shiatsu, deep tissue massage, or reiki treatment. You care about one thing as a massage customer: getting a massage that helps you reach your goals. It doesn’t matter what modality is used to reach these goals, whether it is stress management, injury prevention, rehabilitation, pain relief, or overall wellness. You may not know the name of the modality. If you’re faced with the decision of whether to have a Swedish, deep tissue, or shiatsu massage, or a tragedy, you might want to consider another place to get your massage treatment. It is important to find a professional who will listen to you and offer a range of modalities to meet your needs.

4. How to communicate effectively with your massage therapist. You are always right, and you should expect the best from your massage treatment. You should be able to communicate with your massage therapist before, during, or after your massage treatment. Your therapist should respond immediately to any requests for more or less pressure.

You can express your discomfort during the session and the therapist will make the changes. Too many massage clients have said that they felt uncomfortable and didn’t want to offend the therapist.

If your therapist reacts negatively to your feedback, you have the right to end the session. The treatment should not cost any extra. A massage expert will listen to you and address your concerns before you even have the chance to say them. Our therapists are trained to read your body language and to recognize cues that could change the direction of their treatments. If you don’t feel this, please end your massage session and find someone to assist you.

5. A massage may be free for you.

When I get what I want, I don’t mind paying a little extra. I buy products based on a problem that I want to solve or a pain that I wish to avoid. The same goes for massage therapy.

When you feel stressed, you will find your mind clearer and you can live a more relaxed lifestyle. You don’t have to pay anything if the service relieves you of your stress. Does it sound too good to be true Some massage salons offer referral incentives programs that will reward you with a free massage or money towards your next massage. We offer $35 per referral from our amazing clients at the clinics I own. Some clients receive a couple of massages per month for free because they love the service. They also encourage their friends, colleagues, and coworkers to visit our clinic and get massages. You get a massage free of charge.

If the massage place you visit does not deliver a massage that exceeds or meets your expectations, then you will get a more useless massage. There are many options on the market. This will help you get a massage that is right for you.
